Setup in loving memory of Josh Evans.

John and Tracy Evans wish for this fund to carry on his enthusiasm for enjoying life, by helping others with diabetes, specifically children and their families in Somerset.

We are already making a difference to children and families in Somerset, please take a few minutes to read more.

If you like what you see and want to know more or how to get involved then please contact us, we are always open to suggestions, supporters and donations.

JETF Donate Books and iPod Touches

Below is photo of the presentation of 3 x iPod Touch and examples of books kindly purchased and donated by the Josh Evans Charity for the benefit of children with diabetes in Somerset.
The Team plan to 'get with the latest technology' to support and enhance education for children with diabetes, particularly planning to use a Carbohydrate Counting App in one-to-one education and within group sessions, which will be a brilliant visual tool in helping children assess food and then match their insulin to it.

Lodge Donation

Charlie Barker of The Richard Huish Masonic Lodge has presented a cheque for over £600 to the Josh Evans Fund, a local charity that works with Musgrove Park Hospital and others to help children with diabetes.
Michelle Gardiner, Children's Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist said "We are very grateful to Charlie and all who helped raise this fantastic amount and to the Josh Evans Fund for their continued support. The money will be used to help fund a residential activity weekend for children with diabetes in 2011. This is a great opportunity for children with diabetes to spend time with each other having fun and sharing experiences of life with diabetes!"
Charlie said "I was the Master of the Lodge in 2009 and so Karin, my wife, got to choose the charity for the year. We unequivocally chose the Josh Evans Fund because of the work they do for young diabetes sufferers with Musgrove and because Michelle has been an absolute star to and for our family since our son Alex was diagnosed in 2003. This £600 is the proceeds from a Ladies Lunch we organised."

NPRFC Handle Bar Cup

North Petherton RFC do their bit for charity and fashion! The Handle Bar Cup has become an annual event at the south Somerset club with players and committee growing moustaches in the name of The Josh Evans Trust Fund every November. In 2010 the title went to Kyle Prescott who dyed his tache an exotic purple to pick up the extra points. The awarding of the Cup is the climax of a day remembering Josh Evans, who sadly passed away aged 21 in 2008. The club generated over a £1000 for the Fund through raffles, auctions, sponsorship and even karaoke; "Raising money for Josh is a great morale booster for the players and supporters alike, giving a real buzz to the atmosphere here at Beggars Brook" says Club Chairman Bill Frost.

2010 The London Marathon

Thank you to Spencer and Bernie

Local sportsman Spencer Frost raised over £1500 running in the 2010 London Marathon in aid of the Josh Evans Trust Fund.
Spencer was running for his cousin Josh who was tragically killed aged 21 years in October 2008, the Josh Evans Trust Fund in memory of Josh Evans was setup to help supply much needed equipment, support and information for children and parents in Somerset.

Spencer finished in 5 hours and 8 minutes, egged on by a group of supporters who made the trip up to support him on his first marathon. Including aunties Joan (left) Tracy (right) and mum Avril (middle) below.

Spencer wishes to thank all those who have helped raise such an amazing amount of money and for all their encouragement along the way.

Bernie Edwards 43 ran the 2010 London Marathon in aid of The Josh Evans Trust Fund.

Currently the Josh Evans Trust Fund has already helped the NHS to buy additional monitoring equipment, and much more. With Bernie's help we can continue to help support the current NHS Infrastructure by providing the extra support, literature and knowledge required to help other diabetic children and their families in Somerset.
Bernie said "I have worked for the NHS for 23 years but really wanted to be a PE teacher when I started out! I have been involved in various sporting activities, but never contemplated running the London Marathon until my sister challenged me to do it with her, she then became pregnant so here I am on my own! "

2009 Running for Josh

On September 6th 2009, Robert Kearle completed the Bristol half marathon in a time of 3 hours 13 seconds.
Rob has been training hard in the lead up to the marathon; his supporters have helped him raise £650.00 for the Josh Evans Trust Fund, adding to the recent fund raising events. This money is ensuring JETF’s promise to raise much needed funds for additional equipment, documentation and support. JETF has already started spending some of the money raised for Diabetic Children and their Families in Somerset.
Rob said: I was asked to do the half marathon by my best mate and his wife (Ian & Sarah Wait), who ran for the Wallace and Grommet fund (Bristol Children's Hospital) so I decided to do it and raise money for the Josh Evans Trust. I am very pleased with my time and grateful to all my family, friends and supporters for helping me get through this and raise such a huge amount of money. I might not make rugby training Tuesday night though depending on the few aches and pains I have acquired.
Many thanks to everyone involved.

2009 Cream Tea

A cream tea was recently held to raise money for the trust, attended by members of staff at Musgrove Park Hospital. The tea raised a further £258 for the trust. A hamper was kindly donated by Streamline which was won by Helen Anderson on the raffle. Donations were also made by Tesco and Coleman's Taxis.
Thanks go to Jenny and Angie (Wynford House Receptionists) for their help in organising the event.
