Active Somerset, NCS – Fund Raiser

We have received some amazing news during July!  Active Somerset, team 5 (National Citizen Services) chose to support The Josh Evans Trust Fund and raised an amazing £1025!

Here’s what they had to say…

“Our NCS team worked very hard in such a short space of time to raise an outstanding amount of money for The Josh Evan Trust. It meant a lot to me when our team told me how they chose this diabetic charity knowing how much it can impact myself and my family. It’s been great working along side Team 5 for this social action project.” Team
Leader-Joe

One of the young people from the groups stated “Some of the team had experienced the effects of diabetes through family and friends and wanted our social action project to be more personal.
On the first day we decided we wanted to do a fete, a walk and a sponsored silence. Thank you to local business owners who donated lots of prizes for our raffle, thank you to our families for making cakes to sell and the support advertising on local social media sites.”

“It’s amazing to see how much of an impact a small group of young people can make. Team 5 managed to raise £1025 in just over a week which is such an outstanding amount of money! I loved the fact the team chose the Josh Evans trust as their charity, as they really wanted to raise money to support people with diabetes but they wanted to keep it a local charity because they are aware how much even the smallest donations can make such a difference to smaller charities. I hope this inspires other young people to get involved around their communities in the future.” Team Leader – Eleanor

Great work Team 5, this is an amazing achievement

Santa Express 2017

Santa Express 2017

Another fun trip again this year.

A group of 40 children and parents went on the steam train from Bishops Lydeard on a rather chilly Saturday afternoon. The children had a gift from Santa, a magician entertained us all, there were little treats to eat and drink and a we had a good old ‘Christmas sing song’.

Everyone says how much they enjoy the trip and it is super to see so many excited little faces…

Thank you JETF for helping make many little dreams come true throughout the year.

Oscar’s generous donation

During the summer we received a grateful donation from Oscar, who had attended Kilve and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

He liked it at Kilve making new friends and finding out how to manage his condition having been diagnosed only 18 months before. As a thank you he sent us some of his own money so we can continue providing this amazing opportunity to children with diabetes.

Well done Oscar.
